Shitposting was invented by John Shitposting in 1984 when he shat against a post on Oxford Street, downtown London.
It describes the act of a Shitposter (You) distributing shit (This) via the mailing system (This site). It is generally regarded as:

- lit (old-fashioned)
- awesomesauce (currently making a comeback)
