Sex 2.1
Sex 2.1 was a major update to Sex 2, adding much anticipated features and bug-fixes. It was announced in early 2008 and released in late June of 2009.
New features
- 1v1 as well as 2v2 competitive game modes
- Per-player permission system (matches must now be actively accepted by challenged party)
- Many new weapons and armor, such as the well-received gobbler 3000
- New difficulty settings, as many players found the barrier-to-entry to be too high
- A season-pass, featuring skins and collectibles
Bug-Fixes
- Fixed a bug causing debuffs to be transferred between players during matches
- Fixed issue of players clipping through armor, which caused unintended side-effects such as new user accounts being randomly created
Reception
Sex 2.1 was received with mixed reviews upon it's initial release. While it brought many requested features, such as the competitive game modes, it was also highly criticized for adding micro-transactions into the game through the new season-pass. Although the writer and producer, Jensen B. Lobster, stated that the season-pass rewards were merely of cosmetic nature, many players argued that they still heavily influenced gameplay and made the Sex more pay-to-win. It was also alleged that this update also introduced bots to the pre-game lobby to make the game seem more popular and therefore boost season pass purchases, although this was never confirmed.
