Dr. House

Dr. House is an ongoing long-running British science fiction television series, first broadcast between 1963 and 1989, then revived in 2005. The plot revolves around the protagonist, House, who visits various different settings throughout time and space, asking anyone who'll listen if they've tried the medicine drug, then violates all conventions of medical ethics in whatever setting they find themself in. They are usually accompanied by a companion.

The reason that this show has been so long-running is that House can regenerate in order to avoid death when fatally injured. This allows new actors to take on the role, thus the show can live on. Confusingly, however, all of the actors cast as Dr. House so far have been Huge Laurie.
