Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti is[note 1] a badass composer.

Scarlatti being super chill

History

No one is really sure how Scarlatti did his thing. Musicologists believe that one day he just woke up and decided to music. And thus the scarlatting began. Soon, J.S. Bach heard about his epic music. So did Händel and all the other cool music makers. Hildegard von Bingen heard about Scarlatti and she was like super dead by the time Scarlatti was alive.

Expert(s) believe Scarlatti's name is where we get the current-day musical term "scatting" due to his love of vocal jazz.

555 Sonatas

Scarlatti wrote 555 sonatas[1]. Since he lived for 71 years, this means he wrote 7,82[note 2] sonatas per year. He had written approximately 141 sonatas by 18. Mozart might be a child prodigy but Mozart wrote less sonatas. Meanwhile Scarlatti wrote almost 8 sonatas before reaching 1 year old.

Relationships

Friends

Historical records[2] show that Scarlatti was friends with Stockhausen. Unfortunately, Scarlatti was not a big fan of electronic music. Still, Scarlatti appreciated Stockhausen's experimentation.

Enemies

Scarlatti was too cool to have real enemies. That said, he did find Czerny's round glasses to be "goofy ahh". Scarlatti did not need glasses as he possessed perfect vision. He did not understand glasses.

Trivia

In Fallout 4, the classical radio plays Scarlatti's Sonata in F minor (K 19), performed by Dubravka Tomšič.

Controversies

A number of people believe music fucking sucks

Notes

  1. He's like... dead, but he still is a badass composer, yeah? So like you would say "he was a composer" but you would say "he is badass" ok like I am not sure how to explain this but he is always badass and using "was" feels wrong.
  2. 3 significant figures.
