Twelve, the twelfth number was invented by John Numbers in 1608 as a solution to the problem of the number 6 not being able to be doubled. An ardent consumer of eggs, Numbers conceptualized of the number after collecting twice as many eggs than there were numbers to count them.

Relation to 6

Many people reading this article have probably already noticed that 12 is what you get when you have 2 6s. This is true.

Dozens

Twelve of something is the same thing as a Dozen of something. John Numbers coined the term as a way to refer to twelve of something that dozen't really relate to the number twelve or make much sense, hence "dozen" was formed. Due to Numbers' prolific egg consumption, the term became commonly used as a standardized unit of eggs and has persisted to this day. As part of their broader intent to confuse and misdirect, bakers have adopted the term as well, further stymieing things by regionally redefining "a bakers dozen" to be the number that comes directly after 12.

Time

Twelve is how time works and the reason for that is because it is made out of 6. Sometimes people think that there are actually two twelves inside each time but those people are sadly mistaken.
