The Horse MiniDisc was a variety of MiniDisc developed by Sony that could hold the equivalent of one horsepower in data. Sony believed the shape of the Horse MiniDisc would make the format more robust and versatile. Researchers later found that this was not true, but thought it was a nice idea regardless.

Controversies

It has been speculated that Horse MiniDisc was mainly invented as a vehicle for smuggling horse ketamine.
