A podcast growing on an old branch

A podcast is a kind of weird species of moss that grows on trees in the woods sometimes.

History

The earliest known records of human use of podcasts dates back to around 14,000 BCE. Rudimentary podcasts have been discovered to have been farmed and used by the native peoples of what is now the State of Oregon in the United States of America.

Use by European royalty

Following the discovery of the New World and the increase of trade between Europe and the Americas, a kind of "craze" for the podcast's unusual properties took hold in the royal courts of Europe. Manuel I of Portugal developed a particular interest in the podcast, at one point leading him to purchase an entire ship's cargo's worth of it, the volume of which was so great that it crushed an entire gathering of onlookers as it was brought in to port.
